Location: Zurich or remote (UTC / UTC+1 / UTC+2) Work Setup: Hybrid encouraged, on-site preferred Tech stack: Type Script, Nest JS; React, Redux, HTML5, CSS3; Kafka, Web Sockets; Postgre SQL, Redis; Open API, Async API; Docker, AWS EKS, Kong; Nx Monorepo, Git Submodules Our client, a fast-growing fintech startup based in Zurich, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to help architect and scale their next-generation trading platform. This is a high-impact role reporting directly to the CTO, with the opportunity to lead technical direction while remaining hands-on. You will collaborate with a talented, distributed engineering team to build secure, high-performance systems used by institutional clients.
You will
Architect and evolve backend systems powering real-time trading workflows
Lead development using Type Script, Nest JS, Kafka, and related technologies
Drive deployment and infrastructure operations with AWS EKS, Docker, and Kong
Maintain a modular codebase using Nx Monorepo and Git Submodules
Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers across the team
Collaborate closely with product and leadership teams to align on strategy and deliver impactful features
You bring
5+ years of full-stack development experience, with a strong backend focus
Proven track record building and operating production-grade systems in fintech, trading, or real-time environments
Deep knowledge of Type Script, React, Nest JS, Kafka, Postgre SQL, and Redis
Familiarity with Open API and Async API specifications
Strong architectural thinking and experience with secure, scalable cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Docker, EKS)
Excellent communication skills in English
Educational background in STEM, e.g., maths, computer science, etc., or equivalent certifications
